Academic Freedom Under Attack – A New Series of Webinars

In June 2023, Carlos Azevedo (Open University, UK) and I organized a workshop about the current state of academic freedom at the International Critical Management Studies at Nottingham Trent University, UK (see Workshop 9 at https://www.ntu.ac.uk/study-and-courses/academic-schools/nottingham-business-school/nbs-research/13th-international-critical-management-studies-conference2).

In the hope of keeping the momentum of this workshop alive, we are glad to announce the first event of a series of webinars intended to deepen and widen the discussion about current attacks on academic freedom and to ask what needs to be done to confront these threats and to strengthen the principle of academic freedom.

In the first webinar, we will debate specifically the Dutch case. Susanne Täuber, Natalie Scholz and Verena Kämpken will speak about some of the challenges they have faced and the price they have paid while trying to enact their academic freedom within Dutch higher education.

The webinar will take place on the 28th September 2023, 15:00-16:30 CET

For more information about the webinar, our speakers and for registration, please use the following link:

Also, we have created a new web page with information about the webinar series: https://academicfreedomunderattack.com/. In the future, it will be a repository for our work related to academic freedom.
